Carole Mungall: My Story
|
I came to bag making from a patchwork and quilting background. Attending a quilt fair I purchased a pack of co-ordinated Texere yarns, sometime later after much brain searching I decided to experiment by couching the yarns onto a backing fabric, this produced a very interesting effect but not very practical.
Next I ventured into the world of hand-dyed wool and this technique was to produce a unique and viable fabric with which to make exclusive, individually hand crafted bags .
To compliment the range of hand-dyed wool bags and staying with my love of natural fibres, I introduced handwoven tweeds, Harris tweed from the Western Isles and Donegal tweed from Ireland, and to complete the range for a real country look came Haggarts of Aberfeldy and tweed from Brora.
